Further plans
- Improving access to fresh drinking water through renovation of disused community bore holes- "Only about half of the population uses improved drinking water sources and adequate sanitation. Diarrhoea continues to account for many deaths of children under 5" (Unicef, Nigeria). This priority aims to build on previous work carried out by Alhaji Lam Adesina during his lifetime, through renovation and continued maintenance of boreholes that have become disused over time. Access to fresh water will improve health and wellbeing, aid agriculture and hence self- sufficiency and/or gainful employment amongst local people.
- Access to trained birth attendants - to reduce maternal deaths
- Plans for a Primary Care Centre and access to Oral Rehydration Salts and selected Immunisations to prevent avoidable deaths amongst children- "Life-saving interventions are well known and can be implemented on a large scale, even in settings where resources are constrained. Only 18% of Nigerian children between 12-23 months can be considered fully immunised according to the recommended schedule of immunisation" (Unicef, Nigeria). Key priorties, alongside access to fresh drinking water include treatment of diarrhoea and further targetted immunisation against serious diseases in children such as tetanus, measles, polio and diphtheria.
- An educational programme for women around understanding and dealing with the menopause- A lack of understanding about the natural menopause and associated physical and mental health problems is a major contributor to suicides amongst Nigerian women in middle age. This not only cuts short the ilfe of often otherwise healthy women, but tragically leaves families bereft and struggling to cope without their much loved matriarch. The Ayo Lam care Foundation aims to fund an ongoing programme of education for women in Oyo State, to raise awareness and understanding, thus improving their ability to cope with this life changing but natural event.

April 2013 - Charity Home Visits, Ibadan
Key members of The Ayo Lam Care Foundation (ALCF) visited 3 charity homes, caring for women and orphaned children, in April 2013 to donate much needed 'gifts'. These 'gifts' included food, essential household items, basic writing materials and clothing.
The visits were arranged to begin charity work in Oyo State and thus continue the legacy of the late elder statesman, philanthropist and leader, Alhaji Lam Adesina, former Governor of Oyo State
. The group were accompanied by associates of the former First Lady and wife of Lam, Alhaja Adeola Adesina. The first charity home visited was the Juvenile Remand Home and Child Care Unit in Sango, Eleyele Expressway, Ibadan, opened in May 2012.
The group were met by the head of the unit and subsequently introduced to the staff and children of the unit. The children in the home ranged from infancy to teenage years and included some disabled children.
The children and staff were pleasant and happily mingled with the group from the ALCF, a few answering questions relating to their health and stay in the home. The group then joined the children in singing to welcome Dr Ayobami Wasiu Adesina, the first son of the late elder statesman, who presented the generous gifts to the home, with a promise to continue to support them. The members of the ALCF were then shown around some of the facilities in the unit, whilst also gaining an insight into the care delivered to some of the children with special needs.
The second charity home visited was the Federation of Muslim Womens Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) orphanage, situated in Bashorun Market. The group was received by the Muslim elder sisters who run the unit and the Amirah of the unit, Alhaja Sururat Oyero. Prayers were said for the late elder statesman, Lam Adesina.
Ayobami then addressed the gathered crowd reminding everyone of his father's charitable outlook to life, especially towards women and children. Ayo plans to continue this legacy through The Ayo Lam Care Foundation (ALCF), working in collaboration with the Lam Adesina Foundation in Nigeria and the affiliated charity in the UK
The Muslim sisters acknowledged the generous charitable contributions made over the years by the late elder statesman and pointed out that Ayobami's mother had continued to support the orphanage. They requested that the Ayo Lam Care Foundation take over the mantle by promising continued support, to help preserve and develop the essential work of the home. They explained that the home had close to 100 children but volunteers in their own homes looked after many. The orphanage also has it's own school that encourages attendance from other children to give them exposure to normal life.
Ayobami promised to feed back about the Ayo Lam Care Foundation's support to the orphanage. He then presented the gift items. The group then walked through the orphanage to meet some of the babies being cared for there, and the hard working staff. There were many cots for the infants, as well as a playground for the older children.
The final destination was the Motherless Babies home, launched courtesy of the National Youth Service Corps Oluyole, 2011/12 membership. The Centre also incorporates the Dr Bode Olajumoke Centre for Orphan and Disabled Persons, established in February 1999.
The entourage was again welcomed by the head of the home who highlighted the needs of the occupants, as well as expressing the children's gratitude for the visit and generous gifts offered. Ayobami introduced the group and presented the gifts to the home. In his speech, he highlighted the objectives of the Ayo Lam Care Foundation and promised continued support to the orphanage. The group then mingled with the endearing children, engaging in play and happy chat.
